CORPORATE LIFE Pt. I

(This will be an ongoing series devoted to the fact that I, among many of my elitist and artsy friends who claimed to never be in this position, currently find myself square in the middle of 9-5 life and have no idea what the hell I'm doing most of the time.  Sidenote: I understand that making fun of the corporate world is a bit passe (i.e. The Office, Office Space, etc...) but I just cannot imagine that people all over the corporate world are having the same experiences as me....it's just not possible.)

Along with learning the world of legal matters, which, believe me, is enough to keep my post-college intellect always on the ball, I am forced to learn various things about the workweek/breakrooms/casual Fridays, you name it.

Every day, my co-worker, Suzanne, will greet me upon my arrival and kindly remind me what day it is.  Here is a dialogue to give you some idea of what it is like:

"Good morning, Suzanne"

"Good morning, Carise"

"How are you today?"

"Oooh, it's _______(Fill in the appropriate day)"

Now, I'm not stupid enough to misunderstand the "monday" concept.  Monday is negative and, obviously, Friday is positive.  What I don't understand are the Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday concepts.  Usually I just utter something stupid like, "Oh yeah, you know how Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursdays are."  But I am living a lie.  I do not know how they are and I know if she were to delve in further to my knowledge about the current day of the week, she would see that I am nothing but a phony.

If anyone out there reads this and understands what I am supposed to know about these days, please enlighten me.

THE BURBS vs. THE CITY (Part I)

(This title refers to an ongoing work of literature that will unfold as I move into this stage of life of working in Suburbia, MN whilst living in Urbia, MN)

* In driving to work today, I happened upon an unusual circumstance.  By some devine stroke of luck, I have the utmost pleasure of driving by the State Fair to get to my place of employment.  For one reason or another, there are always numerous RVs placed outside the gates with people who've made their annual trip south from North Branch and Cloquet to "get down with the city life".  Apparently the idea of rapidly-moving vehicles is a new concept, or it least it was for the older pot-bellied gentleman who decided that the already rather small and continuosly closing in distance between my car and his personal space signaled a good time to cross the road.  As I slammed on my breaks and he jumped back a little bit, I noticed he spilled something on the side of my car that he was holding in his hand.  Yes, my friends, it was beer, apparently 7:30am is "Miller Time" in some parts of the state.

Reason number one why I choose city over burbs:  We know when cocktail hour is.

I also just wrote someone's name as "Langdong" instead of Langdon....

...ooo this is fun

The word "Fouth"  should be in the english language.

I just accidently typed it on a court document and thought in my head what it would be like if the judge said "Fouth" instead of "South" (what I meant to write) and everyone would giggle and be happy.

.....let's pretend like I didn't have a million things happen in my life since the last time I updated and just pick up where we left of, okay?

I saw this on Deanna's sight and figured it was a good way to relieve my boredom for a couple hours until I leave Forest Lake to go back to the city.

It's a bunch of useless information that you probably don't care that much about:

Enjoy...

Q: what's the last text message on your cell phone say?:
A: She's not old enough......from Bob (typical)

Q: whose bed did you sleep in last night ?:
A: The question should be whose bed DIDN'T I sleep in last night.....(please tell me you know that this is my sarcasm)

Q: what color shirt are you wearing?:
A: White. It accents the red on my chest from sitting out in the sun all day today.

Q: name one thing that you do everyday?:
A: Put earrings on

Q: how much cash do you have on you right now?:

Q: What is your favourite part of the chicken?:
A: The two holes on the top of their beaks; why do they need them? Do they breathe through there?

A: yep, new car scent

Q: Do you have plants in your room?
A: No, but I do have a 3-foot tall santa clause.

Q: Does anything hurt on your body right now?
A: My sunburn, but ooooo, it hurts so good, I've been waiting so long.

Q: What city was your last taxicab ride in?
A: Roma, mia bella citta

Q: Recent time you were really upset?
A: Don't really know, probably flying home from Rome

Q: Would you have a problem if your friend went after your ex?:
A: He's married, good luck, but this hypothetical 'friend' probably wouldn't be my friend AND be going after my ex.  She would know the deal.....
